Meet Our Team

The Friendly Robots Company is comprised of an array of folks, many of which are well-accomplished mechanical engineering graduates from UC Berkeley, including our CEO and founder, Dr. Xiao. Click on any team members image below to see a short biography about each of us.

Xiao Xiao

Xiao is a technologist and an entrepreneur who wakes up each day thinking about how to combine cutting edge technology with business machinery so as to produce goods and services that people would benefit from and employees would want to work on.

He started tinkering with engineering early in life, gluing and flying model aircrafts. In college he committed to studying everything fascinating, earning degrees in engineering. Prior to founding Friendly Robots Company, Xiao worked on human-worn exo-skeletons, DNA sequencers, and the Apple iPhone and Watch.

He is incredibly proud of the work that the Friendly Robots team has created on such a tight budget and timeline. Xiao is very excited to share the current and future products that Friendly Robots Company brings to this world.

Adam Osborn

Robotics Engineer

Electronics has always been a passion of mine. Most of my career has involved some form of circuit design. I have a degree in Data Science from UC Berkeley where I also studied robotics, machine learning and artificial intelligence. I also have two associate's degrees, one in Mathematics and one in Computer Science. I have interned at the NASA Ames Research Center where I worked engineering the data communication and control system for an autonomous quad-copter drone.
Friendly Robots has been a great opportunity for me to expand my skills and work alongside a great team of industry professionals. I have been involved in the design of our differential drive control, vacuum control system and sensor suite. I have been the primary software engineer for the development of the hierarchical state machine used in our robots.

Kevin Chow

Full-time Employee

I have had an interest in robotics for a long time. I graduated with a BS degree in EECS (Electrical Engineering and Computer Science) from UC Berkeley and with an MS degree in ECE (Electrical and Computer Engineering) from Boston University.

I have many roles in the company, which include the following (so far): developer of the web-based user interface that interacts with our robot, creator of the mounts that hold our robot's sensors, developer of the new upgraded controller for our robot, and manager of the content of our website.

I'm part of the East Coast Team based in New Jersey and I am always willing to offer my thoughts and insights on anything that's being worked on.

Matt Polizzotti

I am a recent graduate of the University of Maryland, from which I received my Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering. As a new engineer, I am greatly excited to be involved with the world of autonomous robotics and look forward to expanding my skills and design prowess at Friendly Robots.
